Egyptian Goose on the Nassaukade

Egyptian Goose on the Nassaukade
Egyptian goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus, member of the family Anatidae, Nijlgans in Dutch) sitting on the Nassaukade, a quay along the Koningshaven, slightly west of the old Heftbrug. The Egyptian goose is an introduced species (also known as naturalized species or exotic species) in Europe, originating, not surprisingly, from Africa. Once venerated by the old Egyptians as a sacred animal.
