The Laankwartier is one of the five new neighbourhoods, currently in course of construction, on the booming Rotterdam peninsula of Katendrecht, a former harbour district near the city of Rotterdam on the South bank of the river Nieuwe Maas. Katendrecht once harboured the first Chinatown in Europe. In the front: the Maashaven harbour basin. On the horizon: on left the two residential towers, Poseidon and Neptunus, of architctural office DKV (Dolf Dobbelaar, Herman de Kovel en Paul de Vroom) and on the right, among other things, the cranes of the newly built Lloyd Kwartier residential area. Mooring boat: the Aqua Nova.
