The Laankwartier is one of the five new neighbourhoods, currently in course of construction, on the booming Rotterdam peninsula of Katendrecht, a former harbour district near the city of Rotterdam on the South bank of the river Nieuwe Maas. Katendrecht once harboured the first Chinatown in Europe. In the front: the Maashaven harbour basin. On the horizon: on left the two residential towers, Poseidon and Neptunus, of architctural office DKV (Dolf Dobbelaar, Herman de Kovel en Paul de Vroom).
